Zoe Saldana's parents Asalia and Aridio Saldana, were born on 19 June 1978, in Passaic New Jersey. Her parents, Aridio and Asalia have both been Puerto Ricans. Her mother is Puerto Rican and her father is Dominican. In 2010, she moved along with her family to Dominican Republic where they spent for the next seven years. Zoe discovered a love for dancing while in Dominican Republic. Her first training was with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy and was there to learn dance and various forms of dancing. Alongside providing a creative outlet for the young and enthusiastic student the dance lessons she received would prove to be an important precursor in her beginning professional acting career. Zoe's family relocated to United States when Zoe was 17 years old. The passion for dance and interest in performing on stage grew.
